    General

    • EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) is a community of higher education leaders and professionals focused on teaching and learning, learning principles and practices, and learning technologies. ELI sponsors an annual meeting as well as publications and special initiatives, such as Seeking Evidence of Impact.
    • New Media Consortium Horizon Project. The NMC Horizon Project charts the landscape of emerging technologies relevant to teaching, learning, research, creative inquiry, and information management. Each year it releases a Higher Education Report, which is a collaboration between the NMC and EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI). This report outlines the top trends in the one-year, two- to three-year and four- to five-year horizons.
    • Pew Internet and American Life Project produces reports exploring the use and impact of the internet on Americans. Many of the Pew reports give insight into how young people engage with technology in educational settings.

    Professional Organizations

    • Gartner group reports are well known for outlining broad trends in the information technology industry. They are famous for their “hype cycle.”

    Vision and Programming

    • Project Kalaidescope (PKAL) Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL) is one of the leading advocates in the United States for what works in building and sustaining strong undergraduate programs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

    Requirements and Design

    • InfoComm International is the leading nonprofit association serving the professional AV communications industry. The InfoComm trade shows and related publications are an excellent way to learn what new technologies of interest are out there and who is manufacturing them. It’s also a great source for learning about the AV landscape, from designers to integrators to manufacturers, the players you will be working with on a learning space project that includes any technology beyond basic desktop computing.
